What You’ll Need
In order to make your payment online or over the phone, you’ll need:
• Your property assessment roll number, found in the upper left-hand corner of your tax bill.
• The balance owed on your bill.
• Your credit card number, including security code on the back of the card.
• An email address to receive an electronic confirmation of your transaction.
Pre-Authorized Payment Plan
We offer both monthly and installment pre-authorized payment plans. The monthly plan spreads the current year’s taxes over 10 months (Feb-Nov) with withdrawal dates of either the 15th or the last day of the month, and the installment plan will withdrawal the total installment amount on the date that it is due.
We also offer a pre-authorized payment plan for accounts that are in arrears. It is a monthly plan where we will withdrawal a monthly amount that is acceptable to you. The withdrawal dates available are the 15th or the last day of the month.
The forms for both payments are available to download. A void cheque must be returned with your form. Please return your form to the attention of the Tax Clerk by mail, email, fax or in person.
If you’d like a hard copy of the form, drop by the office or call and we’ll mail, email or fax one to you. If you’re currently on a pre-authorized payment plan and would like to change your withdrawal date, call 705-738-3800 x232
Internet & Telephone Banking
You must arrange or already have this service with your financial institution. The 15-digit roll number on your tax bill will become, in whole or in part, your account number for the payment. You must enter a separate roll number for each property that you own. Allow your bank 2 weeks processing time if you are paying by either of these methods.
Cheques and money orders should be made payable to “Trent Lakes”. Post-dated cheques are accepted. Please mail cheques or money orders to:
760 County Road 36
Trent Lakes, ON K0M 1A0
You can make a payment in person at the Administration Office, at 760 County Road. We accept cash, cheque, money order, and Interac transactions. There is a drop slot at the front door, upper level, for after hours. Post-dated cheques are accepted.
Property Tax Arrears
If your property taxes are falling behind or your situation has changed making your property taxes difficult to keep up please contact our Tax Office and discuss how we can help. We are available to assist you in a payment plan that will work with your financial situation. A Tax penalty/interest is applied to overdue property taxes at the rate of 1.25%.
As a tax payer, it’s your responsibility to ensure that the Municipality has an up-to-date mailing address on file, and that your property tax bill payments are paid. If an address change is required, we’ll need your written permission.
