The Municipality of Trent Lakes is partnering once again with Cornwall/ Ottawa based company, Food Cycle Science to offer a second pilot project for the on-site food waste diversion solution that will reduce the amount of organics material that goes into the waste stream.
To further reduce the amount of organic material going to the landfill, Trent Lakes is providing 250 additional FoodCycler units at a subsidized price for residents. Each resident will track their FoodCycler usage and provide this data at the end of the 12 weeks, through a survey that will be circulated.
This program extension had broad support from council and administration and was based on the success of the initial pilot program.
The cost to participating residents will be $169.50 which compares favourably to a retail price of $500. The reduction in cost is due to municipal discounts from Food Cycle Science, and subsidization by the Municipality of Trent Lakes.
To participate in this initiative and purchase a FoodCycler unit, you will be required to register and registrations will be on a first-come, first served basis. Registration opens on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.
On Monday, May 2, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., residents can register online. The link is available here, on the information handout and will also be provided on our website and Facebook page.
More information on this pilot program can be found on this information handout and on our Waste Diversion Programs page.
We hope you join us in tackling food waste by piloting this innovative technology which is made available to you right in your home!
