Building inspections are very important for both you and the Municipal of Trent Lakes.
If you have obtained a building permit through our Cloud Permit webservice, please book your inspection through your permit dashboard under the Work tab.
If you have a permit issued prior to 2021 or you do not have access to the Cloud Permit dashboard, please contact us by telephone 705-738-3800 ext. 233, or email and have the address or permit number available when requesting your inspection date.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for the inspections. You will be more likely to have your preferred day or time period if you make your request more than 24 hours ahead of time.
This will also allow us to use our resources in the best way possible.
We are open for inspections from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays excluding Holidays.
Please request either morning or afternoon. We usually do not have specific times for inspections unless it is necessary. If a specific time is necessary, it may change the day that you have requested.
A Building Inspector will come to your project and make sure that everything is ready for you continue to the next stage.
The inspector will either give you a copy of the inspection report for your records if the permit was issued prior to April 2021, or your inspection report will be available online through your dashboard at ca.cloudpermit.com.
If there are items which need correcting, the inspector identify the discrepancies on the report provided in writing, or via cloudpermit.
You may then arrange for a re-inspection after the corrections are made.
There are two reasons why you need to have inspections.
It is the responsibility of the owner or someone authorized by the owner to make sure that all the scheduled inspections are requested.
Your building permit will have a list of required inspections on the last page which is specific to each project. You will need to request each of the inspections in the list and each stage of inspection within each category.
For certain projects, not all the inspections may be needed. However, you must check and make sure which inspections are required.
An Occupancy Inspection makes sure that your building is safe to live in, but not everything may be complete. This is a legal requirement prior to anyone occupying the building.
Items that are typically required at Occupancy Inspection but is not limited to:
*No Partial Occupancy will be issued to Facilitate a Sale*
A Final Inspection makes sure that your project is:
You must always close a permit with the Final Inspection.
