Type: Seasonal/Student – 4 months with anticipated start date April 27, 2026

Salary: $24.78 per hour

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Department: Recreation and Facilities

 

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is seeking dependable, self-motivated, safety-conscious Seasonal Recreation and Facilities Labourers. These are front-line positions, and the successful candidates will be expected to act courteously, professionally, and take pride in maintaining the Municipality’s reputation for beautiful parks, beaches, and gardens.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Be attending or returning to post-secondary school in the fall of 2026.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Available to work from April 27, 2026 – September 5, 2026.
  • 40 hours/week including weekends and holidays
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Class ‘G’ License with a clean driver abstract.
  • Strong Health and Safety awareness.
  • Physically fit and able to perform strenuous work such as lifting, climbing, and moving heavy items (approx. 75 lbs.), involving repetitive movement and considerable effort, while performing the work assigned in a safe manner.
  • Experience in parks and recreation operations and/or maintenance is an asset.
  • Heavy equipment experience is an asset.
  •  Ability to maneuver trucks, trailers, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate landscaping and grass cutting equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic building maintenance and ability to use various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to use a computer, tablet or smartphone to complete electronic work orders and communicate with colleagues.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset.
  • Working at Heights Certification is an asset.
  • Valid Chainsaw Operator Certificate is an asset.
  • Must have Green Patch CSA approved safety boots.

As a condition of employment, the Municipality of Trent Lakes will require successful candidates to undergo a Criminal Records check.

Location: Buckhorn Transfer Station, however, may be required at one of the other three transfer station sites on occasion.

Hours of Work: 35.5 Hours per week during summer hours and 23.5 hours per week during winter hours. Includes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

  • Must have CSA approved safety footwear.
  • Knowledge of Trent Lakes waste disposal regulations.
  • Self-motivator and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Criminal Record Check required.

The Municipality of Trent Lakes is accepting applications for a Seasonal Operator.

 

Qualifications:

·           Grade 12 or equivalent.

·           2-years previous experience operating and maintaining road maintenance equipment and tandem dump trucks.

·           Valid D Class driver’s license with “Z” endorsement with clean driver’s abstract.

·           Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment.

·           Working knowledge of requirements as per Book 7 – Ontario Traffic Manual.

·           Knowledge of current legislation, infrastructure and public works policies and procedures as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

·           Successful completion of driving test.
