Voter Eligibility

You can cast a ballot in the Municipality of Trent Lakes if you're:

  • a Canadian citizen;
  • at least 18 years old on Voting Day;
  • a Trent Lakes resident or an owner or tenant of land in Trent Lakes (or the spouse of such owner or tenant); and
  • not prohibited by law from voting.

You may only vote once in the Municipality of Trent Lakes Municipal and School Board Election, regardless of how many properties your own or rent within the Municipality.

Check Your School Support

Property owners in Ontario are required to support a school board, even if they do not have children. Where a residential property is tenanted, the tenants can directly support for the property. By default, school support is directed to the English Public School Board.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) collects school support information. To learn more about school support, visit MPACs website. Property owners, occupants, and tenants can update their school support designation online using the school support designation tool.

Voting Methods for 2026

Trent Lakes will be using internet/telephone and paper ballot voting methods for the 2026 Municipal Election.

Internet and telephone voting provides a secure, convenient and simple way to cast your vote from anywhere if you have access to the internet or a phone. Paper ballot voting will be provided at the Municipal Office on specific dates only.

A Voter Help Centre will be set up at the Municipal Office to provide assistance to voters. Stay tuned for when and where you can cast your ballot during the election!
