Seeking Members for Compliance Audit Committee
The Peterborough County lower-tier municipalities (Townships of Asphodel-Norwood, Cavan Monaghan, Douro-Dummer, Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, North Kawartha, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Selwyn, and the Municipality of Trent Lakes) are seeking interested applicants for appointment to their Compliance Audit Committees.
The Compliance Audit Committees have full delegation of authority under the Municipal Elections Act to address applications requesting an audit of a candidate or registered third party advertiser's election campaign finances. This authority includes, but is not limited to, the following:

reviewing applications and granting or rejecting audit requests

appointing an auditor, if the application is granted

receiving and considering the auditor's report

considering reports from the Clerk identifying contributors who appear to have contravened election contribution limits

deciding whether legal proceedings should be commenced
Applicants should be familiar with the Municipal Elections Act and have a financial, accounting or legal background.
The term of office for the Compliance Audit Committees will be from November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030 to deal with applications from the 2026 election and any by-elections during the 2026-2030 term of Council.
Applications will be accepted online and in-person by any of the participating municipalities until 12:00 noon on Friday, July 24.
