The Nichols Cove Bridge on Northern Avenue (just east of Kennedy Drive) in the Municipality of Trent Lakes will be closed to all traffic from August 18 to December 12 for a full bridge replacement.
On August 14, 2025, Kawartha Conservation declared a Level 1 Low Water Condition across the watershed, asking residents, businesses, and municipalities to reduce water use by 10% to help protect water supplies and aquatic ecosystems.

Burn Ban in Effect 08/05/2025.
Due to current conditions, the Municipality of Trent Lakes has issued a ban on all open-air burning effective August 5, 2025. This ban suspends all approved Open-Air Burning Permits.
The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, August 4th, 2025 for the Civic Holiday.
All Transfer Stations will be open on the holiday Monday and operate from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Please note the current Ontario Air Quality Health Index for the Peterborough area is currently set as High Risk. Consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities, especially if you experience symptoms like coughing or throat irritation.

(JULY 25, 2025) – The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health (now legally merged) are informing that Environment Canada is forecasting hot, humid weather for the entire region starting tomorrow, July 26th, through to at least Monday, July 28th. Daytime highs are forecasted to reach up to 33°C, with a humidex up to 41. Overnight lows are expected to remain around 19-23°C, providing little relief from the heat. The forecast is not yet confirmed for Tuesday, July 29th, but is currently expected to reach up to 31°C in all regions, except Haliburton.
Construction notice for Barcroft Road:
Please note there will be road resurfacing taking place on Barcroft Road starting Monday, July 28, 2025. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane.
Road resurfacing involves removal of existing surface, placing new gravel, followed by the application of a new surface.

JULY 23, 2025 – As eligibility expands for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) and Peterborough Public Health (PPH) (now legally merged) are encouraging families to explore this federal program to ensure they continue to receive the dental coverage they need.
Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) owners are required to register their property with the Municipality of Trent Lakes.
